Q. How do I select a menu and save the settings for that menu in a Tally Serial Dot Matrix printer? To select a menu:

  1. Press SETUP key.
  2. Press the key below the MENU mode.
  3. Press the MENU key again.
  4. Press the arrow key to select your menu: ie Load Menu=2
  5. Press the SET key.

The loaded menu becomes the active menu.

After each configuration change you make, press the SET button.

Now the changes will be permanently set for that menu even if you turn off the printer.

Q.How do I install a driver for a Tally Serial printer using the CD-ROM? Insert CD into CD-ROM drive.

A.

  1. Make sure all application (program) windows are minimized.
  2. On Taskbar (usually at very bottom of screen), select START or press WINDOW key (between CTRL and ALT)
  3. When START menu pops up, select SETTINGS (click SETTINGS with left mouse button).
  4. When SETTINGS menu pops out, select printer.
  5. Select ADD printer.
  6. Select NEXT.
  7. Select LOCAL for now (default is local printer). Select NEXT.
  8. Select HAVE DISK.
  9. Select drop down arrow (click with left mouse button).
  10. Select your CD drive.
  11. Select BROWSE.
  12. Select your CD drive from drop down list.
  13. Select your language from the FOLDERS box.
  14. Select DRIVERS, Select printer MODEL, Select OPERATING SYSTEM.
  15. The file oemsetp.inf should be highlighted in FILE NAME box to the left
  16. Select "OK" button.
  17. Select your printer MODEL.
  18. Select REPLACE EXISTING DRIVER.
  19. Select NEXT. (Note: This message only appears if you have previously tried to load a driver).
  20. Selectfont-family:Arial"> PORT you will be using.
  21. Select NEXT.
  22. Configure port if necessary, LPT default is to SPOOL MS-DOS and to CHECK PORT STATE.
  23. Select YES to make your printer the default.
  24. Select NEXT.
  25. Select YES.
  26. Select FINISH. The files will copy over and a printer icon will show up in your printers Window. Test page should print. If it does not, see further instructions below.
  27. Select "OK" button.
  28. Close printer control panel dialog.

If the test page does not print, review the following procedures.

  • Is the printer powered up and On line?
  • Is paper loaded?
  • Is the data cable securely fastened to the computer and printer?
  • Did you select the correct port?
  • Did you select the correct driver for your Operating System?
  • Did you select the correct driver for your printer Model?

Q.Where do I find my firmware version?

A. Take the printer off line.

  1. Press the SETUP key.
  2. Press the key under MENU on the display.
  3. If the printer displays MENU LOCKED, see "Unlocking the Menu" below.
  4. Press the key under PRINT on the display.
  • A listing of the current settings will print.

  • The version of firmware you have will be listed at the top of the settings print out.

Example:

Unlock the Menu

  1. Turn off the printer's power.
  2. While holding the SETUP key, turn the power on.
  3. Continue holding the SETUP key until ONLINE is displayed.

The menu is now unlocked until the printer is turned off.

If you wish the menu to remain unlocked after power is cycled:

  1. Power on while holding the SETUP key as described above.
  2. Press the SETUP key.
  3. Press the key under MENU on the display.
  4. Press the key under NEXT repeatedly until MENLOCK is displayed.
  5. Press the key under the < or > display until MENLOCK=OFF is displayed.
  6. Press the key under SET on the display.
  7. Press the ONLINE key to exit the menu mode.

A. Take the printer offline.

  1. Press the SETUP key.
  2. Press the key under MENU on the display.

Q. How do I set my Tally Serial Dot Matrix printer back to factory defaults?

A. Note: Print a Configuration Report before you load Defaults.

To print Configuration Report:

  1. Take printer OFFLINE
  2. PressSETUP key.
  3. Press MENU key.
  4. Press PRINT key.

Take printer Off line

  1. Hold down the four buttons in a row, while turning on the printer's power.
  2. Release the buttons when you see Loading Defaults. Defaults are loaded.

Note: the Control Panel Menu will be locked after loading defaults.

  1. Turn off the printer again and hold down the SETUP button while while turning on the printer's power.
  2. After initialization completes, press the SETUP button again.
  3. You will see on the control panel display: Menu Adj Papway Char.
  4. Press the button underneath MENU and then press NEXT until you see MenLock.
  5. Press the button underneath MENLOCK and use the arrow keys to select OFF.
  6. Press SET to save changes. You now have access to the Control Panel menu

Q.How do I hook up a HP Jet Direct Connection on my Tally Serial Dot Matrix printer?

A. The Jet Direct supports the following Operating systems: Novell Netware, Unix (HP-UX, SunOS and Solaris), Microsoft Windows (NT 4.0, Win 95, WFW), IBM OS/2 LAN Server.

The following steps are necessary to connect to the HP Jet Direct.

Jet Direct Setup

  1. Start the utility by double clicking on the HP Jet Direct icon.
  2. In the dialog, you will see a list of servers. Click once on the icon that represents the server your printer is attached to. It will show with the correct IP address for the HP Jet Direct.
  3. On the Device menu, select Modify.
  4. Click once on Next to display the TCP/IP screen. Select Next again to display the Optional screen.
  5. Click once on the HP Jet Direct icon to highlight it.
  6. Make sure the following settings are selected in the settings boxes:
  • Parallel Mode: Speed of Connection set to Centronics.
  • Parallel Handshaking: Communication Protocol set to Nack and Busy.
  • Status Page Language: Type of Page to Print set to Text (PCL for T90X0 printers).

7.Click on Finish. Then click on OK. Exit the HP Admin program.

T2045 / T2060 printer Settings

Only the I/O parameter changes.

For "Flash Type" units, turn off Bi-Directional to the Parallel

Port.

  1. Power up while pressing the ONLINE button until TESTMODE is displayed.
  2. Once Initialization is complete, press the button under NEXT until you see CX-BID. Press the button.
  3. Press the button under < or > to turn CX-BID off.
  4. Then press the button under SET.

Q. How do I disable the bi-directional capabilities to the parallel port on the Serial and Line printers? 

A.

  1. Begin with printer Off
  2. Power up printer while pressing ONLINE button to access Test Mode.
  3. Once initialization is complete, press button under NEXT until you see CX-BID or BI-DIR.
  4. Press button underneath and use UP or DOWN arrow keys to move to OFF.
  5. Press SET button.
